Describe one physical activity or skill you have improved since the start of this course. Explain the steps you have taken to help improve this activity or skill.

One physical activity that I have improved since the start of this course is swimming. Prior to taking this course, my swimming skills were quite basic, and I only knew how to swim using the doggy paddle technique. However, I was motivated to enhance my swimming abilities and make it a regular part of my fitness routine.

To improve my swimming, I followed several steps. First and foremost, I signed up for a swimming class at a local swimming center. This allowed me to receive professional guidance and learn proper swimming techniques from an experienced instructor. Attending regular classes helped me gain a better understanding of swimming strokes, breathing techniques, and body positioning in the water.

Apart from the classes, I made it a habit to practice swimming on my own. Initially, I started with short sessions in the shallow end of the pool, gradually increasing the depth as I grew more confident. I focused on improving my kicking technique and arm movements in various swimming styles such as freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke.

To complement my practice, I also incorporated strength and endurance exercises into my fitness routine. This included exercises like core workouts, lunges, and cardio exercises to improve my overall body strength and stamina, which are crucial for swimming. Additionally, I would also engage in stretching exercises to improve flexibility, as it plays a significant role in swimming performance and preventing injuries.

Furthermore, I sought feedback from my instructor and other experienced swimmers in the class. I asked for specific pointers and corrections to refine my technique. Their guidance helped me understand my weaknesses and areas that needed improvement, allowing me to focus on those aspects more attentively during my practice sessions.

Throughout the course, I consistently pushed myself to set goals and meet them. Initially, my goal was to swim a certain distance without taking breaks, and once I achieved that, I gradually increased the distance to challenge myself further. The sense of accomplishment I felt after each milestone encouraged me to persist and work harder.

Overall, through a combination of formal lessons, regular practice, strength and endurance exercises, seeking guidance from experienced swimmers, and setting goals for improvement, I have seen significant improvement in my swimming abilities. I can now swim with much more confidence, efficiently use different strokes, and enjoy this physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.
