What is stereotyping?

Stereotyping refers to generalizing certain traits, characteristics, or behaviors to a whole group of people based on limited or incomplete information, assumptions, or prejudices. It involves creating a fixed and often oversimplified image or perception of a group, ignoring individual differences and variability within the group. Stereotypes can be based on factors like race, gender, ethnicity, religion, nationality, age, socioeconomic status, or occupation, among others. Stereotypes can lead to unfair judgments, prejudices, and discrimination.
