need help with this Nominative Absolutes sentence

"The town held a festival because the harvest had been so large.".

is this right?

The town held a festival the harvest been so large.

OK, try this:

The harvest having been so large, the town held a festival.

I hope that's right. =)

The town held a festival the harvest been so large. <~~That's a run-on -- two independent clauses run together without correct punctuation.

so what do i need to do, I don't understand it at all.

What's wrong with the first sentence. It's correct.

I'm supposed to rewrite the entire sentence changing because the harvest had been so large to a nominative absolure.

This example may help you.

I don't see how your original sentence can be turned into this construction.

The town held a festival, because the harvest was so large.

The way I understand the explanations, you need to make one part of that sentence into a phrase (probably a participial phrase) which modifies the subject of the sentence.

In your new sentence, "town" is the subject. What is modifying it?
