Confused, he made an appointment with his dentist, Dr. Fell, who delivered the news that Jeremy would need braces to correct his misaligned teeth. Jeremy was shocked and a little self-conscious. Braces were for nerds and geeks, right? He couldn't imagine having a mouthful of metal while trying to navigate high school social dynamics.
So, Jeremy decided to keep the news to himself for the time being. He didn't want his friends or crush, Elena Gilbert, to see him as anything less than cool and confident. But as the days passed, the pain in his mouth only worsened, and he found it harder to hide the braces he knew he needed.
