Cell wall in plant cell

The cell wall is a rigid, protective outer layer that surrounds the plant cell membrane. It is primarily composed of cellulose, a polysaccharide that provides structure and support to the cell. The cell wall helps maintain the shape of the plant cell, prevents it from bursting under pressure, and protects it from pathogens and external stressors. Additionally, the cell wall allows for water and nutrients to pass through via plasmodesmata, small channels that connect neighboring plant cells. In contrast to animal cells, plant cells have a cell wall that provides added strength and rigidity to the cell structure.
