A product designer is designing a new game. The game automatically assigns avatars to the players based upon a demographic/personality survey they take when they sign up, so that their avatar can be more like the real person. The designer had always wanted their characters to be as much like the real them as possible and thought it would be a great feature to have this automatically happen. Going to the online discussion board about the game, they discover that the players really hate this. In 3-5 sentences, explain what type of bias the designer may be displaying and why.

The designer may be displaying a confirmation bias by assuming that everyone would want a game character that closely resembles themselves. They may have only considered their own preferences and not taken into account the diverse preferences of their target audience. This bias could have led them to overlook the fact that some players may prefer to have more freedom in choosing their avatar, rather than having it assigned based on a survey.
