So, like, Hobbes was all about the idea that people are inherently selfish and need a strong government to keep them in check, while the Enlightenment thinkers were more into like individual rights and freedom of thought. Also, Hobbes was all about how the state should have absolute power over the people, while the Enlightenment peeps were all about limiting government power and letting people have more say in how they're ruled.
