Plessy vs Ferguson

When did the event take place?(one paragraph)

The Plessy vs Ferguson event took place in 1896. It was a legal case brought before the United States Supreme Court by a Louisiana man named Homer Plessy. Plessy, who was of mixed race, challenged the constitutionality of segregated train cars, as required by the state's "separate but equal" laws. The Supreme Court's decision in this case upheld the constitutionality of racial segregation and established the "separate but equal" doctrine, which sanctioned racial segregation in public facilities. This decision had far-reaching consequences and further entrenched racial discrimination in America for several decades until it was eventually overturned by the landmark Supreme Court case of Brown vs Board of Education in 1954.
