Similarly, the internet today enables people from all over the world to connect instantly, communicate, and share information. Both early trade/exploration and the internet have facilitated the exchange of knowledge and fostered cultural diffusion.
2) Contrast: One way early trade and exploration and the internet differ is in the physical aspect of communication. In the past, trade and exploration required physical transportation of goods and people, which was often a time-consuming and arduous process. On the other hand, the internet allows for instantaneous communication and the transfer of information with just a few clicks.
