that is important to you? Use online resources to identify a person who serves
in that institution at the local, state, or national level.
2. Other than your own elected representatives, who might you contact? Think
about who chairs the congressional committee that might have jurisdiction
over your issue or who heads the government agency responsible for
implementing your solution.
3. What special interest groups are concerned with your issue? Who would be the
best people to contact from those groups?
4. Does your proposal align with the platform of any political party? You may wish
to focus on an official from that party who would be most sympathetic to your
proposal.
1. The institution of government that has the greatest ability to impact the issue of climate change is the national government. One person who serves in the national government and has a significant impact on climate change is Joe Biden, the President of the United States.
2. Other than my own elected representatives, I might contact the chair of the Congressional Committee on Energy and Commerce, as they have jurisdiction over environmental issues. Currently, that position is held by Frank Pallone Jr., a representative from New Jersey. Additionally, I might contact the head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which is responsible for implementing environmental policies.
3. Special interest groups concerned with climate change include environmental organizations such as Greenpeace, Sierra Club, and the World Wildlife Fund. The best people to contact from those groups would be their executive directors or policy directors, as they would have a deep understanding of the issue and be able to provide guidance on how to best advocate for change.
4. Climate change is a major concern for the Democratic Party. Therefore, my proposal to address climate change would likely align with the platform of the Democratic Party. It would be beneficial to focus on officials from the Democratic Party who are known for their support for climate action, such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Bernie Sanders.
