In order to remember figurative and connotative meanings of words and phrases in a literary text, one strategy I used was

creating a chart or table that lists the words or phrases in the text and their potential meanings. Then, I would try to identify the context in which the word is used and what it suggests or implies. Additionally, I would try to make connections between the figurative and connotative meanings and the overall themes or messages of the text. Another strategy would be to look up any unfamiliar words or phrases and examine their definitions and usages in various contexts. Lastly, I would try to actively engage with the text, by highlighting or underlining important words or phrases, and taking notes on the interpretations and analyses I made while reading.
