It is impossible to accurately predict the probability of a large earthquake M 6.7 occurring in the San Francisco area between 2003 and 2032. However, the US Geological Survey estimates that there is a 72% chance of a magnitude 6.7 or greater earthquake occurring in the San Francisco Bay Area in the next 30 years.
