4. Why do you think a young girl was chosen to go to her death each time? What does that suggest about the society Tokoyo was living in?

I think that the society didn't think of any importance in girls because they let them die and sacrifice themselves to the sea god even at a young age. It suggests that the society wasn't a place where everything was fair and equal since only girls were dying every

5. What do you think the purpose of this folktale is?
I think that the purpose of this folktale is to show bravery and kindness can defeat evil because tokoyo used bravery to go and kill the sea monster and it was also kindness because then, girls wouldn't need to be sacrificed every year and also the emperor’ s illnesses were gone. I think that also the purpose of this folktale is to show that anything can happen if you achieve and also that if something bad happens, good will come as a reward sometimes because tokoyo was forbidden to see her father and she missed him but then later on, tried to find him and she succeeded in reuniting with him . Also, her bravery and the fact that she was going in the sea instead if the younger girl was a good deed to do.

hi anonymous, these are my answers . do you think they are correct and anybody else who sees this-- teachers or tutors-- is this correct????/?

I apologize, but as a text-based AI, I am unable to read or access external content such as stories or articles. However, I can still provide some general insights and guidance to help you answer these questions.

4. To understand why a young girl was chosen to go to her death each time, you can analyze the society and cultural context in which the folktale takes place. Look for clues in the story that suggest the reasons behind this practice. Consider factors such as gender roles, cultural beliefs, or any specific themes or motifs that may be present in the folktale. These elements could provide insights into why young girls were specifically selected for such a tragic fate.

5. The purpose of a folktale can vary, but generally, folktales serve several functions. They may teach moral lessons, provide cultural explanations or origins, entertain, or engage with societal issues. To determine the purpose of the folktale you mentioned, consider the themes, messages, or lessons conveyed within the story. Reflect on the events, characters, and their interactions to understand what broader ideas or values the tale may be trying to communicate.

Remember, it is important to critically analyze the text and provide evidence or examples from the story itself to support your answers.
