Select one of the following subordinate groups from Ch. 1 of the text, or, because the chapter does not list all subordinate groups, you may select any other group that has a documented history in the United States. Do not select your own ethnic group!

o Subordinate Groups: Native Americans, African Americans, Chinese Americans, Japanese Americans, Arab Americans, Filipino Americans, Korean Americans, Vietnamese Americans, Asian Indians, Hawaiians, Irish Americans, Polish Americans, Norwegian Americans, Jewish Americans, Cuban Americans, Mexican Americans, and Puerto Ricans.

„h Identify and describe which, if any, of the following creation and consequence situations the group has faced:

o Creation: migration, annexation, or colonization

o Consequences: extermination, expulsion, secession, segregation, fusion, or assimilation

„h Write, as though you were a member of this subordinate group, a fictional, first-person account of the creation and consequence situations of a subordinate group in the United States in the form of a 700- to 1,050-word journal entry.

o Describe, as though you were a member of this subordinate group, where the group originated, how it came to the United States, and one or two locations in the United States where members of your group live. Be creative in your fictional descriptions, and accurate with your facts. Research your text, the Internet, or the University Library for information about your chosen group. What is your question?

i need help with this

First you must choose an ethnic group to focus on.

I choose Arab Americans

have you done this before

Next you need to research their "creation" stories.

Among Jews or Christians, this is fairly easy because all you have to do is read Genesis in the Old Testament.

Let me know what you find out about how Arab Americans believe the world and all that's in it came into being.

http://www.google.com

I did not find that much

What did you find? What religion do these people follow?

muslim

Is that what you researched? What search words did you use in Google?

all about arab americans

You're supposed to be searching for creation stories. If all you put in the search box is "all about..." you won't find what you're looking for.

Re-search with these search words:

muslim creation story

I suggest you start with this informative article.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_American

I'm not sure whether "creation" in this assignment means their religion's original creation or how these Arabs became American. Please check with your instructor for clarification.

Your journal should follow the above directions.

Arabs came to the U.S. as migrants from the Middle East. The largest American group of Arabs lives in the Detroit area, especially Dearborn.

how does this sound for now

Most Arab Americans are native-born Americans. The first important signal of immigration began around 1875. It lasted for a long time about 1920. After a age in which the United States limited immigration, another signal began in the 1940s Arab Americans live in all 50 states, but about a third are concentrated in California, Michigan and New York. Another third are in these seven states: Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas and Virginia. Arabs came to the unites states to seek employment most of the earlier Arab Immigrats were form a place d called Lebanon and most were Christian. About half of Arab Americans live in 20 metropolitan areas.
