  1. Exactly what is that comma in the first line? What are you factoring?

  2. That is one of the problems that I had, The comma is there in the book, I've tried asking my teacher but he has not responded. If I find out I will let you know thanks so much for your help.

(x)/(x-3)-4-(2x-5)/(x+2) I posted something before this, so now this is how far I got. The answer I know is -(5x^2-17x-9)/(x-3)(x+2) first I get (x)(x+2)/(x-3)(x+2)- (4)(x-3)(x+2)/(x-3)(x+2)-(2x-5)(x-3)/(x-3)(x+2) Then I get

Okay, how do you factor a polynomial when there is a number in front of the highest x term. For example: how would you factor 2x^2-11x+15 i know the answer is (2x-5)(x-3), right? So you put the 2x on one side and then you put an x

    x/(x-3)-4-(2x-5)/(x+2) If the problem is this: x/(x - 3) - 4 - (3x - 5)/(x + 2) ...find a common denominator to start. The common denominator is (x - 3)(x + 2), then convert each term using the common denominator. Here's a start:
