(2x^2-8x-42)/6x^2=(x^2-9)/x^2-3x
How do you solve this problem? Please list the steps.. Thank You
factor the ( ) terms
(2x^2-8x-42)=(2x+6)(x-7)=2(x+3)(x-7) check that
(x^2-3x)= x(x-3)
(x^2-9)=(x+3)(x-3)
put those in, and multipy by x
2x(x+3)(x-7)/6x^2=(x+3)(x-3)x/(x(x-3))
lots of things divide out. Notice x cannot equal 3, nor x=0
check the following...
I see
(x-7)/3x=1
which is pretty easy to solve.
