Subject: Geography

Lesson duration: 45 minutes

Objective:
- Students will be able to identify and locate the continent of Africa on a world map.
- Students will learn about the countries and major physical features of Africa.

Materials:
- World map
- Map of Africa
- Markers
- Worksheets with questions about Africa

Procedure:

1. Introduction (5 minutes):
- Begin the lesson by asking students if they know where Africa is located on a world map.
- Show students the world map and ask them to locate Africa.

2. Locating Africa on the map (10 minutes):
- Show students a map of Africa and point out the countries and major physical features such as rivers, mountains, and deserts.
- Have students take turns coming up to the map and pointing out different countries and features.

3. Group activity (15 minutes):
- Divide students into small groups and give each group a worksheet with questions about Africa.
- Have students work together to answer the questions using the map of Africa.
- After completing the worksheet, have each group present their answers to the class.

4. Map skills practice (10 minutes):
- Give each student a blank map of Africa and have them label the countries and major physical features.
- Circulate around the room to provide assistance and feedback as needed.

5. Closure (5 minutes):
- Review the key points of the lesson with students, including the location of Africa on the world map and the countries and major physical features of Africa.
- Ask students if they have any questions or if there is anything they would like to learn more about.

Assessment:
- Evaluate students based on their ability to locate Africa on a world map, identify countries and major physical features of Africa, and complete the worksheet and map labeling activity accurately.
