In the two reports I have described, one involving a community's protest against the lack of water supply and the other involving a protest against the lack of quality education, it is evident that the service delivery protests can be considered justified to a certain extent.

In the case of the water supply protest, the community had been without a reliable water supply for an extended period of time, leading to hardships such as having to fetch water from rivers or wells, which posed health risks. The community had repeatedly tried to engage with the local government and water authorities to address the issue, but their concerns were not adequately addressed. In this context, the protest can be seen as a desperate and necessary measure to draw attention to the critical need for a basic service like water supply.

Similarly, in the case of the education protest, the community had been advocating for improvements in the quality of education in their schools for years, highlighting issues such as overcrowded classrooms, lack of resources, and unqualified teachers. Despite their efforts to engage with education authorities and address these issues through formal channels, little to no progress was made, leading to frustration and disillusionment among the community members. In this case, the protest can be justified as a way to demand accountability and demand the right to quality education for their children.

Overall, while service delivery protests can sometimes lead to disruptions and conflicts, they can also serve as an important mechanism for marginalized communities to voice their concerns, hold authorities accountable, and demand their basic rights.
