How does lead get into water?

Lead can get into water through various sources such as corroded lead pipes, solder used in plumbing fixtures, and plumbing materials. When these pipes and fixtures come into contact with water, especially if the water is corrosive or has a low pH, the lead can leach into the water supply. Additionally, lead can also be present in soil and may contaminate groundwater or surface water sources. Industrial activities, mining, and landfill sites can also contribute to lead contamination in water sources.
