One major achievement associated with the Shang dynasty is the development of a sophisticated system of writing, known as oracle bone script. This writing system was used for divination and keeping records, and later evolved into the Chinese writing system that is still in use today. The Shang dynasty is considered to be the first Chinese civilization to have developed a written language.
