Food allergy

A food allergy is a condition where the body's immune system reacts abnormally to certain foods, treating them as harmful substances. Common food allergies include nuts, fish, shellfish, eggs, dairy, and wheat. Symptoms of a food allergy can range from mild to severe and may include hives, swelling, itching, difficulty breathing, and even anaphylaxis. It is important for individuals with food allergies to avoid the trigger foods and carry an epinephrine auto-injector in case of a severe allergic reaction.
