The enlightenment thinker who most strongly believed that women should enjoy the same rights as men was Mary Wollstonecraft. In her seminal work "A Vindication of the Rights of Woman," Wollstonecraft argued that women were capable of reason and therefore should be entitled to the same education, opportunities, and rights as men. She believed that gender equality was essential for achieving a just and rational society.
