Why wouldn't you eat something that only landed on the floor for 5 seconds ?

It is commonly believed that the "5-second rule" is a myth and that food can become contaminated with bacteria and other germs the moment it touches the ground. Consuming food that has come into contact with potentially harmful pathogens could lead to gastrointestinal issues or other illnesses. Additionally, factors such as the type of surface the food landed on and the presence of dirt or other debris can also contribute to contamination. As a result, it is generally recommended to avoid eating food that has touched the floor, regardless of how brief the contact was.
