Cell- The basic structural and functional unit of all living organisms.

Homeostasis- The ability of an organism to maintain a stable internal environment despite changes in the external environment.

Virus- A small infectious agent that can only replicate inside the cells of living organisms.

Prokaryotes- Single-celled organisms that lack a true nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles.

Unicellular- Organisms made up of a single cell.

Multicellular- Organisms made up of multiple cells working together.

Cell Wall- A rigid structure that surrounds the cell membrane of plant cells, providing support and protection.

Plasma Membrane- The semipermeable membrane that surrounds the cytoplasm of a cell, controlling the passage of substances in and out of the cell.

Nucleus- The organelle that houses the cell's genetic material and controls cell activities.

Mitochondria- Organelles responsible for producing energy in the form of ATP through cellular respiration.

Cytoplasm- The gel-like substance that fills the inside of a cell and surrounds the organelles.

Mitosis- The process of cell division in which a cell replicates its DNA and divides into two identical daughter cells.
