One idea of the ancient Greeks that scientists during the 1500s and 1600s built upon and eventually disproved was the geocentric model of the universe. This model, proposed by Greek astronomer Ptolemy, believed that the Earth was at the center of the universe, with all other celestial bodies orbiting around it. Scientists such as Copernicus, Galileo, and Kepler developed the heliocentric model, which placed the Sun at the center of the solar system with the planets orbiting around it. This idea eventually led to the acceptance of the heliocentric model and the disproof of the geocentric model.
