Mao Zedong implemented the Cultural Revolution in China in order to regain control and eliminate opposition within the Communist Party, as well as to reassert his authority and maintain his power. This movement also aimed to purge "bourgeois" elements and promote ideological purity among the Chinese population. Additionally, Mao sought to instill communist values in the younger generation through the Red Guard movement.
