Stress comes in various forms… Such as positive (eustress) and negative (distress).

What are some examples of when you experienced eustress?

Which ineffective strategies for managing stress do you use most often?

What are the primary factors contributing to your current sleep patterns?

What are some strategies to help improve the quality and duration of your sleep?

One example of when I experienced eustress was when I was preparing for a big presentation at work. Despite feeling some pressure to do well, I was motivated and excited about the opportunity to showcase my skills and knowledge. Another example was when I trained for a marathon. The physical and mental challenges pushed me out of my comfort zone, but ultimately I felt a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.

In terms of ineffective strategies for managing stress, I often turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms such as overeating, excessive screen time, and avoiding the source of my stress altogether. These strategies provide temporary relief but ultimately do not address the root cause of my stress and can even contribute to more negative feelings in the long run.

Primary factors contributing to my current sleep patterns include a hectic schedule, high levels of stress, poor sleep hygiene habits, and excessive caffeine consumption. I often struggle to wind down at night and find myself tossing and turning for hours before finally falling asleep. This lack of quality and duration of sleep leaves me feeling tired and irritable during the day.

To help improve my sleep, I am working on establishing a consistent bedtime routine, limiting caffeine intake in the afternoon, creating a relaxing sleep environment, and practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing and meditation before bed. I am also making an effort to address the sources of my stress through healthy coping mechanisms such as exercise, connecting with loved ones, and seeking professional help if needed. By prioritizing my sleep and managing my stress effectively, I hope to achieve a better overall sense of well-being.
