The conflict drives the plot of a story. Conflict is the struggle between opposing forces that creates tension and moves the story forward. It can be internal (a character's inner struggles) or external (struggles with other characters, society, nature, etc.). The resolution of the conflict ultimately shapes the outcome of the story.
