Water in soil can be found in the spaces between soil particles, known as pore spaces. This water is known as soil moisture and is vital for the health of plants as it provides them with essential nutrients and helps them grow. Some of the water in soil is held tightly to soil particles and is not easily accessible to plants, while some is free to move within the soil profile.
