Alexander the Great was a king of Macedonia who conquered the Persian Empire and established one of the largest empires in ancient history. Some of his accomplishments include spreading Greek culture and Hellenistic ideas throughout his empire, founding many cities (including Alexandria in Egypt), and promoting the exchange of ideas and technologies between different regions. He is also famous for his military strategies and conquests, including the Battle of Gaugamela in 331 BC.
