Throughout the time periods and works we've studied, the idea of the monster/supernatural has evolved from being seen as purely monstrous and evil to being more complex and multifaceted. In early works like Beowulf and Macbeth, monsters and supernatural beings were often portrayed as purely evil and obstacles to be overcome. However, in later works like Frankenstein and Dracula, we see more sympathetic and humanized depictions of these creatures, blurring the lines between good and evil.
