Jared, Josias, Bryan, and Michael were engaged in an intense battle in the video game console at Jared and Josias’ house. After a while, they began to grow bored and started to discuss over what their next activity should be. It was 7 pm at the time, with their parents were chatting in the living room. The four friends decided to sneak out to the backyard to play hide and seek, knowing the parents wouldn’t approve of them going outdoors at night. Jared volunteered to be the seeker, and so the rest of them went out to hide in the dense forest. After counting to 100, he went out to go look for them. After about 20 minutes passed, he decided to give up, for it was getting really dark outside. He yelled out, “Okay guys, you win!” There was no response, so he yelled again, “You can come out now!” Still, nobody answered. Jared assumed they were simply playing around, trying to scare him. “I’m going inside and unless you want to sleep outside, I’d suggest you join me!”, he called out. He turned to go back inside, but could not find his home. Realization hit, and he knew he was lost.

Jared, Josias, Bryan, and Michael were deeply engrossed in a fierce battle on the video game console at Jared and Josias’ house. As the excitement began to wane, they pondered their next course of action. The clock struck 7 pm, with their parents engaged in casual conversation in the living room. Unwilling to end the fun, the four friends devised a plan to sneak out into the backyard for a game of hide and seek, fully aware that their parents would disapprove of them venturing outside at night. Jared gallantly volunteered to be the seeker, while the others hurried out to conceal themselves in the shadows of the dense forest.

After counting to 100, Jared ventured out to seek his friends. Minutes stretched into an eternity as he scoured every nook and cranny, but to no avail. Growing weary as darkness enveloped the sky, Jared reluctantly conceded defeat. “Alright, you win!” he called out, hoping for a response. Silence greeted him in return. Undeterred, he called out once more, “Come out now!” Still, there was no reply. Assuming his friends were pulling a prank, Jared warned them, “I’m heading back indoors. If you don’t want to spend the night outside, I suggest you follow me!” With that, he turned towards the house, only to realize that he was no longer able to discern its familiar outline in the dim light. Panic set in as Jared was hit with the realization that he was lost.
