What is wahhabism

Wahhabism is a conservative and fundamentalist Islamic movement founded in the 18th century by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab in Arabia. It promotes a strict interpretation of Islamic teachings and beliefs, advocating for a return to the ways of the early Muslim community and rejecting any innovations or practices that are not explicitly sanctioned by the Quran and Hadith. Wahhabism is often associated with the strict enforcement of Islamic law, intolerance towards other sects of Islam, and a rejection of Western influence. It has had a significant influence on the development of Islamic thought and practice in the Arabian Peninsula and beyond.
