Directions: In unit 8, lessons 9-11, you learned about how to plan for, write and revise/edit a narrative. For this portfolio, you will be writing a 5 paragraph narrative (story).

Remember, your purpose is to entertain your reader. You may choose your own story topic or select a topic from the list provided below.

Your portfolio must include the following: See the graphic organizer for help with the structure of your narrative (story).
At least 5 paragraphs
The following elements of plot (For details on the elements of plot, watch this video)
An intro (also known as the exposition)
Rising action
Climax
Falling action
Resolution

Your story must also include…
Dialogue (Make sure to follow the rules of dialogue!)
Descriptive language (language that paints a picture for your reader)

Sample narrative (story) topics:
Write a narrative about a day when you got lost.
Imagine a situation where you could go back in time…
Write a narrative about an adventure you went on with your pet.
Write a narrative about a time you went on vacation
Write a narrative about your proudest moment

Grading Policy:

- The narrative (story) will be graded based on the inclusion of all required elements (5 paragraphs, plot elements, dialogue, descriptive language), creativity, organization, and grammar usage.
- The narrative must have a clear beginning, middle, and end, with a logical progression of events leading to a resolution.
- Dialogue must be formatted correctly with quotation marks and proper punctuation.
- Descriptive language should be used to enhance the reader's understanding and visualization of the story.
- Spelling, punctuation, and grammar will also be taken into account during grading.

Overall, the narrative should be engaging, well-developed, and effectively convey the chosen topic or story.
