Directions: In unit 8, lessons 9-11, you learned about how to plan for, write and revise/edit a narrative. For this portfolio, you will be writing a 5 paragraph narrative.

Remember, your purpose is to entertain your reader. You may choose your own essay topic or select a topic from the list provided below. Remember to cite any sources you used if necessary.

Your portfolio must include the following: See the graphic organizer for help with the structure of your essay.
An introduction
At least three body paragraphs
A conclusion
In-text citations (if you have included info from other sources)
A bibliography (if you have included info from other sources) EASYBIB
Dialogue (Make sure to follow the rules of dialogue!)

Use this graphic organizer as a guide to help you get started. If you turn this in, you will not receive full credit. Use this graphic organizer only as a guide.

Sample essay topics:
Write a narrative essay on a day when you got lost.
Describe in detail a meal that you really love.
Imagine a situation where you could go back into time…
Describe the weirdest thing you have ever seen.
Write a narrative about an animal that you love so much.

As a reminder, your narrative essay should include the following elements: an introduction, at least three body paragraphs, a conclusion, in-text citations (if necessary), a bibliography (if necessary), and dialogue. Here is a suggested outline to help you structure your essay:

Introduction:
- Introduce the topic of your narrative essay
- Provide some background information or context
- End with a thesis statement that outlines the main points of your essay

Body Paragraphs:
- Each body paragraph should focus on a specific event or aspect of your narrative
- Use descriptive language to engage the reader and create a vivid picture of the scene
- Include dialogue to bring your characters to life and move the story forward

Conclusion:
- Summarize the main events or themes of your narrative
- Reflect on the significance of the experience and what you have learned from it
- End with a closing statement that leaves a lasting impression on the reader

Don't forget to proofread your essay carefully for grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors. Make sure your writing flows smoothly and engages the reader from start to finish. Good luck with your narrative essay!

Grading Policy:
Your narrative essay will be graded based on the following criteria:
- Adherence to the prompt and essay structure (introduction, body paragraphs, conclusion)
- Clarity and coherence of ideas
- Creativity and originality of the narrative
- Use of descriptive language and dialogue
- Grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Organization and flow of the essay
- In-text citations (if necessary)
- Bibliography (if necessary)
