Germaine Complains

by Aero Gram

Germaine hated flying. His mother always said that hate is a strong word, but he could not help it. He could not stand airplanes. He could not stand airports. There was always someone with smelly feet nearby. There was always a crying baby nearby.

Germaine could not sleep in those uncomfortable seats. He hated the burnt pretzels and the watered-down juice. He hated road trips more, so he was stuck flying.

Germaine wished his grandparents moved to Florida so he could visit them without flying. The only way they wanted to travel was on cruises. Germaine hated ships and boats and kayaks even more than cars and airplanes. So, twice a year, Germaine was grumpy on his flight to Maine.

Jovy Laughs
by Aero Gram

Jovy was a jolly kid. She only cried when she was hurt. She only cried in front of her mom. Nobody ever saw Jovy complain about anything.

Once, Jovy fractured her arm in the monkey bars. She cried until the doctor took care of her. Then, she had fun decorating the cast until it was taken out. Another time, Jovy’s grandma was really sick for a few months. Jovy called her each night and told her a story to cheer her up. When Jovy’s grandma was all better, she came down to Michigan to play with Jovy.

“How are you always happy, kid?” Jovy’s grandma asked.

“Being mad gives me headaches. And when I smile, the headache goes away,” Jovy said. “So I am not mad for long at all!”
