Why did the farmers alliance form?

The Farmers Alliance was formed in the late 19th century as a response to the economic difficulties faced by farmers, particularly in the South and Midwest. Farmers were struggling with low crop prices, high transportation costs, and mounting debt, while big business and railroad companies were reaping huge profits. The Alliance sought to organize farmers to collectively fight for better prices, fair treatment by railroads, and government regulation of monopolies. They also pushed for political reform, advocating for measures such as the free coinage of silver and the establishment of a sub-treasury system to provide credit to farmers.
