The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a federal agency in the United States responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety, dietary supplements, prescription and over-the-counter medications, vaccines, medical devices, cosmetics, and other products that may have an impact on public health. The FDA reviews and approves new products, monitors and enforces product safety and labeling regulations, and conducts research to inform public health policy.
