7. In my locality, some of the major challenges people with disabilities face include lack of accessibility in homes, schools, and workplaces, discrimination and stigma, limited opportunities for education and employment, inadequate support services and accommodations, and lack of awareness and understanding from the community. Many homes, schools, and workplaces are not designed to accommodate individuals with disabilities, making it difficult for them to move around, access facilities, or participate fully in daily activities. Discrimination and stigma often lead to social isolation and exclusion, making it harder for individuals with disabilities to build relationships and integrate into society. Limited opportunities for education and employment also present barriers to achieving independence and self-sufficiency. Additionally, inadequate support services and accommodations further hinder the ability of people with disabilities to fully participate in society.

8. Some of the national policies and laws that impact the equal participation of persons with disabilities in education, socio-economic, and other activities include the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Fair Housing Act, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). These laws provide protections against discrimination, ensure access to education and employment opportunities, promote inclusion and accessibility, and provide support services and accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

9. International conventions and declarations such as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the World Health Organization's International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) play a crucial role in protecting the rights of persons with disabilities. These agreements promote equal opportunities, non-discrimination, accessibility, and full participation in society for individuals with disabilities. They emphasize the importance of recognizing the dignity and autonomy of individuals with disabilities, as well as the need for inclusive and accessible policies and services. By recognizing and upholding the rights of persons with disabilities on an international level, these conventions and declarations help to create a more inclusive and equitable world for all.
