Define the following and give two examples each

(1) Metal
(2) Non-metal
(3) Metalloid
(B) Give two uses of each of the following
(1) Aluminium
(2) Copper
(3) Chlorine
(4) Hydrogen

(1) Metal: A metal is a solid material that is typically hard, shiny, malleable, and ductile, with good electrical and thermal conductivity. Examples: iron, gold.

(2) Non-metal: A non-metal is a material that lacks the characteristics of a metal, such as being brittle, dull, and a poor conductor of heat and electricity. Examples: oxygen, sulfur.

(3) Metalloid: A metalloid is an element that has properties of both metals and non-metals. Examples: silicon, arsenic.

Uses:
(1) Aluminium: used in the construction of aircraft, beverage cans.
(2) Copper: used in electrical wiring, plumbing pipes.
(3) Chlorine: used in water treatment, production of plastics.
(4) Hydrogen: used in the production of ammonia, fuel for rockets.
