The Aztec adapted to water by constructing chinampas, artificial islands used for agriculture, in the middle of Lake Texcoco. They also built an intricate system of aqueducts and canals to transport water throughout their city. The Inca, on the other hand, built terraces and irrigation systems to cultivate crops in the Andean mountains, utilizing the natural water sources in the region.
