1. Using an example, explain why it is important to have a semi-permeable membrane. What would happen to the cell if it was not semi-permeable? ( couple semtences like 2 is enough to aswer )

Having a semi-permeable membrane is important because it allows for the selective passage of certain substances in and out of a cell. For example, in a human red blood cell, the semi-permeable membrane allows oxygen molecules to enter the cell while preventing larger molecules like hemoglobin from leaking out. If the cell membrane was not semi-permeable, it would result in the unregulated flow of substances, leading to loss of essential molecules or the invasion of harmful substances, jeopardizing the normal functioning of the cell.
