Fray

of Mission San Juan Bautista appealed to the viceroy to reopen the mission in East Texas. When the viceroy refused, he appealed to Pierre Le Moyne, Sieur d'lberville, the governor of

Louisiana. d'Iberville agreed to help and sent a small expedition to establish a mission in East Texas. However, the expedition faced many hardships and was ultimately unsuccessful in establishing a mission. Despite this setback, Fray Fray continued to advocate for the establishment of missions in East Texas and eventually succeeded in convincing the Franciscan Order to send missionaries to the region. As a result, Mission San Francisco de los Tejas was established in 1690.
