Muhammad retreated to a cave outside of Mecca, specifically the Cave of Hira, in order to engage in spiritual reflection and meditation. The cave provided solitude and a quiet place for him to contemplate and seek guidance. It was during one of his retreats in this cave that Muhammad received his first revelation from God through the Angel Gabriel, marking the beginning of his prophethood.
