During the time from 1860 to 1900, many things happened that motivated Texas farmers to grow more cotton really fast. First, cotton demand was high all over the world, so farmers could sell it at good prices. Second, new machines like the cotton gin made it easier and faster to remove the cotton seeds. This made farmers want to grow even more! Lastly, Texas had great land and good weather for growing cotton, which made it a perfect place for farmers to grow lots and lots of cotton!
