One of the major failures of the New Deal program was its inability to fully end the Great Depression. Despite the government's efforts, the unemployment rate remained high throughout the 1930s, and it took the United States' entry into World War II to finally pull the country out of the economic crisis. Additionally, critics argue that the New Deal's excessive regulations and increased government intervention stifled private sector growth and innovation, which prolonged the economic downturn.
