Text 2: Forests are Everywhere!

1

Forests are found all around the world. About one–third of Earth's surface is covered in forests.

2

Some forests are tropical and warm. Others are cold year–round. Every forest is different, but they all have many trees. Trees help keep our planet healthy. They take in harmful gasses and produce oxygen. Oxygen is the air that we breathe. Forests also help keep water clean. Rivers flowing through forests can pick up chemicals and other waste. Plants on the forest floor catch some of this waste, making the water clean and safe for animals to drink.

3

Forests and the plants that grow there are very important. Without them, life on Earth would not be possible.
