In this part of the assignment, you will write your own instructions to use as you orally teach someone how to plan a trip (see Appendix A).
Step 1: Decide on a destination and think through the steps.
Determine the starting and ending destinations.
Think about the process of planning a trip.You will need to think about:
the distance between where you are and where you are going.
the transportation options available to get you from place to place.
the possible cost involved in getting there.
what to bring (e.g., clothing for a different climate, travel documents).
how to research getting from one place to another.
Step 2: Write your instructions in the Giving Oral Instructions Worksheet (Appendix A).
Open the Giving Oral Instructions Worksheet and complete Part A.
Follow the structure of writing a procedure for a presentation. Remember to include a goal, materials, a method, and an evaluation.
Read through your process writing. Evaluate it for:
a clear goal.
easily accessible and specific materials.
complete steps in the correct sequence.
use of transition words such as first, next, and then.
clear, concise, yet specific language.
specific measurements, if needed.
suggestions on how to make the process go smoothly.
places where the person may go wrong and suggestions to avoid these mistakes.
a statement to evaluate success in reaching the desired result.
correct grammar and conventions.
Step 3: Revise your instructions.
Use the checklist to check for common errors in your presentation.
Make any necessary edits. If you were unable to check off all the requirements on the checklist, go back and make sure that your process is clear and complete. Revise and edit your work as needed to ensure that it is of high quality.

Preparing for a Trip- Oral Instructions

Goal: To teach someone how to plan a trip effectively

- A map or access to a map app on your phone or computer
- A notebook or a planner to write down important details
- A budget calculator tool
- Internet access to research transportation options, accommodation, and activities
- A pen or pencil to take notes
- A suitcase or backpack for packing

Method:

a. Use a map or a map app to identify the best routes and modes of transportation to reach your destination.
b. Compare different transportation options like flights, trains, buses, or driving.
c. Consider the cost, duration, and convenience of each option.
d. Check for any necessary travel documents, such as passports or visas.
e. Book your transportation tickets, keeping track of the dates, times, and confirmation numbers.

3. Find and book accommodation.
a. Use the internet to research accommodation options in your destination.
b. Consider factors like price, location, amenities, and reviews.
c. Make a reservation by contacting the chosen accommodation or booking through a website.
d. Keep all booking information, including confirmation numbers and check-in/check-out dates, in your notebook or planner.

4. Plan your itinerary.
a. Research activities, attractions, and landmarks in your destination.
b. Make a list of must-visit places, taking into account the duration of your trip.
c. Determine which activities require advance booking or tickets.
d. Create a daily schedule or a rough itinerary, allowing some flexibility for spontaneity.
e. Mark important dates and times in your planner.

5. Pack your essentials.
a. Check the weather forecast for your destination during your travel dates.
b. Prepare your clothing accordingly, considering the climate and any specific events or activities planned.
c. Make a checklist of necessary items like clothing, toiletries, medications, electronics, and travel documents.
d. Pack your suitcase or backpack, organizing your items to maximize space and minimize wrinkling.
e. Don't forget to include essentials like chargers, adapters, and a first aid kit.

6. Prepare for your departure.
a. Double-check your travel documents such as passports, tickets, and visas, and keep them in a safe and accessible place.
b. Make copies of important documents and keep them separately from the originals.
c. Check the transportation's luggage restrictions to ensure you comply with weight and size limits.
d. Arrange transportation to the airport or your starting point if needed.
e. Set reminders for important times, such as check-in, boarding, or transfer times.
f. Ensure that your home or property is secure and make any necessary arrangements for pets or plants.

Evaluation:
