List two ways a simple machine makes work easier.
1) Simple machines allow us to exert less force in order to accomplish a task. For example, using a lever to lift a heavy object requires less force than trying to lift it directly with our hands.
2) Simple machines also allow us to change the direction of a force. For instance, using a pulley system allows us to pull downwards on a rope to raise an object upwards, making it easier to lift something heavy.
