Explain the Connection:

Why do you think the factor you named in your last answer caused such a big difference between the economies of the North and South?

Answer in 50 words or less. Start your response with "I think," and respond as if you were explaining this to an elementary school student.

(A good answer will be clear and logical, and it will further discuss the same idea you wrote about in the previous question.)

I think the factor I named in my last answer, which was the availability of natural resources, caused such a big difference between the economies of the North and South because it determined what industries could develop in each region. The North had more access to things like coal, iron, and other materials needed for factories, while the South had a lot of fertile land for farming. So, the North focused on manufacturing and industry, while the South focused on farming and agriculture.
